Rhonda Ingram sculptor and artist for Creamsoda BJD

Hello

This is Me, Rhonda Ingram, a Canadian born BJD artist, transplanted into my little studio in Mexico where I imagine, design, sculpt, mold, cast  and finish all of my own work to bring you the collector, some wonderfully unique and sometimes quirky Ball Jointed Dolls

How it all happened

My journey into sculpting began in 2007 in Canada when I picked up my first lump of clay and began creating one of a kind art dolls.

A few years later I was aimlessly searching the internet one day and happened across the amazing art of Japanese Ball Jointed Dolls and instantly fell in love with the possibilities of character and expression.

I was off to the races and began to teach myself through trial and error to create these dolls.

At that point in time there was very little to no information on the web about how to go about making intricate joints, or the mechanics and importance of perfect balance. I was persistant and in 2011 started CreamSoda BJD and Cassie was the first BJD released, since then I have created over 43 sculpts.

In 2016, I uprooted and headed to Nayarit, Mexico in search of a more simple, slower paced life where I found my little piece of tropical heaven and set up an off grid solar powered studio I lovingly call, "The Incubator" where Stella was the first to be created and born.

My first few dolls were sculpted in studio and then sent to a Chinese company for mold and casting services as most artists did. With many new artists emerging the waits at factories grew to a year or more and that's when I decided to teach myself the art of mold making and resin casting. I was already making clothes, wigs, shoes and everything else my dolls needed so why not the rest?

Trust me when I say that mold making and casting are complete arts in themselves and not for everyone. There is a lot of equipment and mess involved but its also a part of the whole design process and I love the challenge of it. The best part of it is that for my collectors I was able to cut the wait time to receive a doll from 1 year at the factory to about 8 weeks straight from my studio. That was excellent news for everyone.

There are many, many more creations waiting to get out of my imagination and into amazing collections all over the World and I thank each and everyone of you for following and supporting my work for so many years. You make it possible to "keep the dust flying"
